To install Apache use the command
"sudo apt-get install apache2"
Ubuntu Linux As My Desktop Operating System
Submitted by bhargi on Tue, 09/18/2007 - 06:15.I started using Linux on my servers few years ago. I had a strong notion that Linux was not suited for desktop computers. Later, I realized that Linux is even more friendlier than the (proprietary) operating system I was using before. In my humble opinion, Ubuntu is one of the best Linux distributions available today. Ubuntu has plenty of packaged application software and drivers which are very essential. Out of the box, all these software packages work great. You can start using these instantly after installing Ubuntu.
Use rpm packages in Ubuntu
Submitted by bhargi on Tue, 09/18/2007 - 06:12.I am having 64bit AMD system in which I was unable to play flash files in Mozilla firefox. I initially tried with gnash which is an open source version of flash player but i felt gnash still not mature enough to handle flash files as good as Macromedia Flash player so decided to go for Macromedia Flash player. First we need to uninstall if any gnash installed and then install Macromedia Flash player plugin-in for Mozilla Firefox. But the problem is Macromedia 64 bit flash player is not available for Ubuntu 7.04.
